Collaboration with National Choreographic Center of Roubaix (Carolyn Carlson)
Serge Aimé Coulibaly was comissioned to create Mappemonde by the National Choreographic Center of Roubaix, Nord pas de Calais (Carolyn Carlson).
A performance which was staged in the picturesque city hall of Roubaix with 35 amateur dancers and 15 singers, it brought together a great variety of amateur artists of Roubaix.
Serge Aimé Coulibaly has been working with Marrugeku Company from Australia, since 2004. His work with the company has been centered around research in and confrontation with the traditional Aboriginal dances and contemporary dance.
This work has lead to the creation of the piece Burning Daylight and which had a succesful Australian tour in 2009.
Parallel to this, Coulibaly has been part of the international indigenous choreographic lab – a lab for Maori, Aboriginal and Pacific Island choreographers.
